About Agile Embedded Academy

Our Approach

We Don’t Teach Agile by the Book

Traditional agile training falls apart when it meets hardware dependencies and safety regulations. That’s why our expert practitioners don’t teach generic methodologies as they come out of the box. Instead, we combine adapted agile practices with deep technical expertise - AI-assisted development, DevOps automation, and continuous integration - all tailored for embedded systems realities.

Our collective approach draws from decades of hands-on experience across multiple domains - automotive Tier-1 suppliers, medical device companies, aerospace systems, and IoT startups. Each instructor brings deep expertise from specific embedded contexts, ensuring students learn practical solutions that have been proven in real projects.

Every technique we teach has been battle-tested across diverse embedded projects at companies like Medtronic, ARRI, Mercedes-Benz, and many others. When we say something works, it’s because our expert network has seen it succeed under the pressure of hard real-time deadlines and regulatory scrutiny.

Bridging Embedded Systems Constraints with Agile Practices

With 15+ years of embedded systems experience and an aerospace engineering background from TU Dresden, Luca specializes in making agile work where others say it can’t. What makes him uniquely qualified is that he has performed every role in the software development lifecycle - he has been the developer debugging race conditions at 3 AM, the tester fighting with flaky hardware interfaces, the product owner explaining why teams can’t just “pivot” when the PCB is already fabricated, the test manager coordinating teams, the scrum master facilitating sprints, the agile coach transforming organizations, and the SAFe expert organizing PI plannings. This hands-on experience across safety-critical systems (ISO 26262, DO-178B), real-time constraints, and hardware-software integration means he understands challenges from every perspective.

As founder of Agile Embedded Academy, Luca has assembled a network of like-minded embedded systems practitioners to deliver specialized training. Many of these expert instructors were discovered through his work as co-host of the Agile Embedded Podcast, where he regularly connects with thought leaders who have solved similar challenges in different domains. This curated team of practitioners ensures that students learn from multiple perspectives while maintaining the academy’s focus on practical, field-tested methods.

As a DevOps Ambassador for DASA, Luca brings cutting-edge practices to embedded teams worldwide. He has successfully implemented agile transformations at companies like Medtronic, ARRI, Fresenius Medical Care, Mercedes-Benz, and many others. His training combines deep technical knowledge with hands-on experience from every angle of software development, focusing on what actually works in resource-constrained environments. He is passionate about AI-enabled embedded development and regularly speaks at conferences like the Agile Embedded Conference and Deutsche Luft- und Raumfahrtkonferenz.

How We Work

The Academy’s Approach

Agile Embedded Academy is part of the do.institute family, providing specialized embedded systems expertise within a broader ecosystem of agile and DevOps training. While agile methodologies remain our foundation, we’ve evolved into a comprehensive embedded systems academy covering AI-assisted development, DevOps automation, continuous integration, and advanced testing strategies - all tailored specifically for hardware-software integration challenges.

Teams usually come to us after generic agile training has failed them. We start by understanding your specific constraints - hardware dependencies, regulatory requirements, real-time needs. Then we adapt agile practices to fit your reality, not force your reality to fit textbook agile. Within weeks, teams report breakthrough improvements in integration issues, faster bug detection, and surprisingly, better compliance documentation.
While do.institute offers comprehensive agile and DevOps training across all domains, Agile Embedded Academy provides the deep specialization needed for embedded systems. We maintain the same quality standards and integrate seamlessly with do.institute’s course catalog, but every program is tailored specifically for hardware-software challenges.
While we started with agile methodologies for embedded systems, our course portfolio has expanded significantly in response to customer demand. Teams implementing agile practices needed deeper technical skills - AI-assisted development, continuous integration for embedded systems, DevOps for hardware-software integration, and advanced testing strategies. Rather than refer clients elsewhere, we brought in expert practitioners who specialize in these technical domains, maintaining our embedded focus while broadening our expertise.
The embedded landscape evolves rapidly - new regulations, new tools, new challenges. That’s why Luca co-hosts the Agile Embedded Podcast, speaks at conferences, and continuously expands our network of expert practitioners. Our instructors regularly share insights and refine training methods based on their latest client experiences. When you train with us, you’re getting methods proven in last quarter’s projects, not last decade’s theory.

Who We Serve

Teams We Transform

We work with embedded teams who are tired of hearing “just do Scrum” when they’re dealing with 16-week component lead times and safety audits. Our clients include automotive Tier-1 suppliers implementing AUTOSAR, medical device companies navigating FDA approvals, aerospace teams meeting DO-178C requirements, and IoT startups scaling from prototype to production.

What they have in common is the realization that traditional approaches - whether pure waterfall or textbook agile - don’t address their reality. They need someone who’s been in their shoes and found practical solutions.
